Brilly FAQ
Everything you need to know about Brilly — the live AI tutor that works with any app or website.
What is Brilly?
Brilly is a live AI tutor and on-screen assistant. It runs in your browser as a floating chat window, watches any tab you share with it, and gives you step-by-step help on any subject — from coding and math to languages and exam prep.
How does Brilly work with other apps?
Brilly reads a browser tab you share with it. That means it works with anything you can open in a browser: VS Code Web, GitHub, Google Docs, Notion, Google Sheets, YouTube, Coursera, Khan Academy, Figma, Overleaf, and more. Voice chat and file uploads work everywhere.
Is Brilly free?
Yes. The free plan includes daily chats, file uploads, screen sharing, custom tutors, voice chat, and web search. Paid plans lift usage limits and add priority models. See the pricing page for current tiers.
What subjects can Brilly tutor?
Anything — math, physics, chemistry, biology, coding (Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, SQL, C++, and more), languages (German, English, Spanish, French, Arabic, more), history, business, finance, design, music theory, and test prep (SAT, GRE, IELTS, TOEFL, MCAT, Abitur).
Can Brilly help me prepare for an exam?
Yes. Switch to Brilly Teacher mode, upload your study materials and exam date, and Brilly generates a spaced-repetition study plan distributed across a visual progress grid. Click any day to start a focused study session.
Can I bring my own API key?
Yes. Brilly supports Bring-Your-Own-Key (BYOK) for OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, xAI Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral, and Groq. You can switch between your key and Brilly's built-in model at any time.
Does Brilly support voice chat?
Yes — talk to Brilly with your voice in both the main chat and the pop-out chat window. Great for hands-free tutoring.
Can Brilly search the web?
Yes. Toggle web search on and Brilly will fetch fresh information from the web with clickable source links — useful for research, current events, and up-to-date documentation.
Can Brilly create files I can download?
Yes. Brilly can generate downloadable .txt, .md, .csv, .json, .xlsx, and .pdf files from any chat — summaries, lists of links, study notes, tables of data, and more.
Can Brilly email my chats or files?
Yes. Save Gmail contacts in Brilly and share any message, table, or generated file to those addresses in one click. Recipients get a secure link.
Is my data private?
Yes. Screen-share frames and uploaded files are used only to answer your questions. They're never sold, and never used to train third-party models. You can delete your data at any time from the Account page.
Does Brilly work on mobile?
Brilly runs in any modern browser, including mobile Chrome and Safari. Screen sharing is limited by what the mobile browser supports, but chat, voice, and file uploads work fine.
